This week's episode was kind of just there. They're racing to the finale, but it doesn't feel like it. It feels like they've progressed too quickly with plot points, unwilling to sit on them for long enough while doing world-building. However, it's still decent.
Cyan still feels weirdly out of place to me.

I feel like it's not happening. What else could they do? Right now, we're on the scale of intergalactic war. Maybe it would work if they did a sequel with a different character?
I think they could have stretched things out a little more and filled in the gaps a bit. I think the big reveal should have come a couple episodes from the end, rather than halfway. That would have given more urgency to it.

Honestly, I think it's closer to Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? with replicants from Mars escaping to Earth and then having to hunt them down. However, there's been quite the shift.
I take it Mr. Radiochan doesn't care for it?

Honestly, I think it's closer to Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? with replicants from Mars escaping to Earth and then having to hunt them down. However, there's been quite the shift. I take it Mr. Radiochan doesn't care for it? he really does not no he doesn't like a lot of anime I like (he won't watch Urusei Yatsura, which he rather freely translates as SHUT UP XENO BITCH) Whatever I like it a lot and I've been taping it. The call letters refer to the TV station it's airing on in Japan, JOCX-DTV, virtual channel 8, Fuji TV flagship station. (I generally like the anime that airs on Fuji, but there's a Chinese based anime airing that I don't like so much.) Herr Radiochan has certain distinct tastes. Currently I know he's watching Sasaki and Peeps, maybe Hokkaido Gals, and his favorite anime is stuff like Berserk, TTGL, LOGH. He's definitely a big fan of Jojo. He does NOT like certain anime I love, like Urusei Yatsura, Macross, and for examples for the last two seasons, Undead Girl Murder Farce and MR. (UY, UGMF, Rurouni Kenshin and MR all air on Fuji.) We unite over Jojo and Spy x Family. I'm watching this raw and my knowledge of Japanese is spotty at best. So what you can take away from all this is that I only have the vaguest ideas as to what's going on but it's really cool anyway. Attachments:

It sounds like he doesn't care for much with a heavy romance angle. Though, he likes Spy x Family. So, that one's a bit out of place. Though, I also understand that it has mass appeal and is a fun watch, from what I heard. I even heard of a non-weeb liking it.
Sometimes you don't have to know what's going on to appreciate things. Sometimes it lets your imagination run wild. It's like art.

I also know of non-weebs enjoying it. The humor is absolutely fantastic, the intrigue between Yor and Loid, and Anya....she's the freakin cutest little girl I've seen in awhile in an anime (that may be my "parent of 3 girls" showing though). |

Not sure how I feel about MR as a whole, tbh. It's good, story feels like it's rushed in the last couple of episodes. Animation is....weird to me. Some instances feel super basic, some sequences feel really well done and intricate. Some characters are better designed than others, some are definitely inspired by other anime (not as an homage, but not quite a ripoff; example: I see a LOT of Wolf's Rain influence in some characters). Like I said in the "current anime" thread: I'm enjoying it, it's not good or bad, it's just...a fun watch I guess. Better than average for me. There...thread back on track  |
