I'm only a couple episodes from watching the entirety of Psycho Pass in 4 days. It's really up there in my favorite scifi anime. It's different, but I would put it on par with Lain. EDIT: Finished it again, and what a great ride it was. You: Likes Lain Doesn't like Evangelion or Ergo Proxy Me: /confused

The art style in Ergo Proxy reminded me of this US comic called Monocyte, so I absolutely loved it. Good esoteric cyberpunk. Yeah I liked what I saw of Psycho-Pass, but just...need to find the time. There's a couple movies too, right? Not including compilation film(s)? I think there are 3 seasons and a movie or two. However, the first season is all you should watch. The first season is amazing. The second season is somewhere between kind of bad and bad. I can't say anything about the movies, though. It's one of those things that seems like it was only ever intended to be a single season, but then it was very popular. The movie is good. It wraps up the series pretty nicely. I watched PP back in the day when it first came out and thought to myself, “There’s no way a society would be this retarded,” now it feels infinitely more intelligent than the one we are stuck in. Pretty prothetic looking back on it. probably should rewatch it someday.

I think it's largely based on Philip K Dick's The Minority Report with a little bit of Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep mixed in. I don't think it's that retarded. People often trade freedom for security. It's just a matter if degree. I might have to give the movie a try, then. I did watch season 2, and it wasn't great.

I might try it again. As far as Eva goes, I liked the first half. The second half, where they stopped caring, is what got me.

When I say, the society is retarded, I don’t mean the author’s idea of the society is retarded. I just couldn’t wrap my head around the idea that anyone would agree to live in such a society. But that was back in 2012. Now I realize I live in herd of retarded sheep that will take me to even the most absurd dystopias. The author knew exactly what he was talking about.

I believed it wholeheartedly. I did most of my growing up in the 90s where the gay stuff was really getting pushed. I saw people start accepting it just because the TV told them to and there were buzz words/phases that made it easier for them to digest. Seeing stuff like that, makes you really understand how malleable people can be.

They are some of the few anime produced with 5.1 surround sound. When watched with a nice home theater sound system... Eva is good, but Ergo Proxy truly sounds AMAZING!

I literally watched society go from "Ban Ellen Degenerate from TV" to "not that there's anything wrong with that" to "hahaha are gays funny! Queer Eye!" in less than a decade. I didn't realise it then, but the 90s set us up for the apocalypse of troondom we're currently living.

I think the really big one was Will and Grace. Seinfeld's passive, "Not that there's anything wrong with that," catchphrase was subversive. I agree. The 90s were a huge primer for the gay stuff. Though, they had some "very special episodes" in the 80s. Miami Vice comes to mind. They also played off sympathy for people who contracted HIV.

Slowly getting caught up on Frieren. Made it to Ep 19 last night, and I didn't wanna stop.
Also got caught up on Metallic Rouge. Ep11 setting up the final. I feel it could have used some more episodes to REALLY flesh out the story. I don't know if they're planning a S2 or not, but it just felt like it would be better served as a 2-cour show, IMO. I'm withholding judgement until the final episode premieres.
Also- Tsukimichi isn't TOO terribly bad, for an "OP isekai". Started watching S1 based on some good looking battle clips from Instagram. I've definitely seen worse isekai (Wise Man's Grandchild, Isekai Smartphone, etc), but it's not the greatest. I don't mind an isekai when it does the thing well (like Slime, imho), but man...when they do it poorly it REALLY shows. This one isn't bad or good...it's just "there".

She's very much the Misato archetype. I'm much more a Makima guy.

There's just something about her, and I'm not one of those pet play/submissive people.
