I might have to wishlist it to find it on sale. It might be a pleasant distraction to fill a weekend.

Two anime style games I bought in the last 12 months: 13 Sentinels: the plot is a crazy angry fruit salad Japanese science fiction, but the gameplay of the visual novel and tower defense is decent and it has good music. Also after playing this remember that we should put our faith in the Lord and not in technology. No way computers we make now could last that long. I recommend waiting for a sale though. www.nintendo.com/us/store/products/13-sentinels-aegis-rim-switch/Blue reflections second light. The plot is a sad, melancholic exploration of the deism and estrangement involved in considering the Universe mechanistical and the Divine incomprehensible and machine like. The gameplay is RPG with some item crafting involved. Recommend even at full price. After playing this remember the good Lord is personal, and we need not fear getting lost if we love Him. www.nintendo.com/us/store/products/blue-reflection-second-light-switch/

Another anime esque game is the HunterX series. ec.nintendo.com/AU/en/titles/70010000056061 It is a series of now 2 Metroidvania with the focus on difficult boss fights. The style is anime ish, though using 3d models. Not bad and often on sale, so if you are interested get it during a sale. Currently I am playing the second installment, I played the first one a few months ago. An even better anime esque Metroidvania is Dead or school. www.nintendo.com/us/store/products/dead-or-school-switch/ It also has difficult fights and a lot of over the top violence. The plot is also funny in a sense, it is about a girl in a post apocalyptic world who wants to go to school. This is also often in sale so no need to pay full price.

IS Dead or School actually good? I saw it on Steam here and there. It looked a little jank, if it's the one I'm thinking of.

I though dead or school was funny but I was playing this while I was bored during the lockdowns so your mileage may vary. I would not pay full price for it.

Yes that sounds about right, although the hilarious idea of a girl desperately wanting to go to school did stay with me. Especially looking at my own kids. You might want to look at some playthrough videos to see if you would like it.
On the other hand, a game that was very memorable to me was atelier Ayesha becase it is about a world ruined by midwit alchemists. This game was from 2017 I think so it foreshadows, or perhaps even is an early exposure of the competence and midwit crisis.

Started up Disgaea 5 on Steam (well played a bit of it a year ago, but picked it up again) , it's really good, my only Gripe is all of the DLC characters aren't balanced for the start of the game (Steam's version is the Complete edition) Attachments:

I never liked the idea of the positioning for attacks. It makes me think of tactics games. I might give it a shot on sale. I'm not opposed to cheap and simple games. I like them a lot sometimes. I just got finished one called Crawling Lab. It's not anime-inspired, but it's a nice little sexy survival horror roguelike.

Grinding my default characters to try and catch them up to the DLC ones lol, probably should have redeemed them later on lol Attachments:

I can also make a few anti-reccomendations of games I bought on sale but that turned out to be bad:
- Is it wrong to pick up girls in the dungeon. Awful gameplay, annoying roguelike action RPG mix, in game graphics are extremely low effort. Story is the same as manga/anime, better get those.
- Astlibra. Indy side view RPG with a terrible combat system. Even the puniest enemy takes gazillions of shots making you waste time for no reason. The huge bosses look cool but you need to bring 99 healing items to beat them. This to hide the fact that there are way too few screens in each dungeon. The music is fine tough. A sad example of how indie games are not always better.

Schoolgirl Zombie Hunter is pretty simple, but it's also a lot of fun. I would say it's very "arcadey." So, if you like stuff like that, where you get into action quickly, I think you'll have a lot of fun. So you're saying I should stop being stingy and just by Schoolgirl Zombie Hunter already because I am sure to enjoy it? and it clearly has a good soundtrack. I got it. A bit janky, but for $8, whatever. Fun enough.

A bit janky, but for $8, whatever. Fun enough. I remember paying $40 at the time. It was jank, but it's fun getting new guns. It's simple, but that's not terrible. Some end game missions are pretty rough.

I have been playing Phantom Breaker Omnia as of lately. I bought it on a sale in the online shop for +- 5$ And it is a fun little anime style fighting game. Since it is a fighting game, even with Story mode it is not very long, maybe 10 hours, so 5$ is just the right price I think. The characters are an amusing lot, and the Russian character Sophia is amongst the strongest. How realistic 😂. The controls are pretty simple, no half rolls for a fireball, which is nice for a middle age guy like me whose reaction speed already has suffered from age. Recommend at this price. phantombreakeromnia.com/
